Octopoddy Pty Ltd (ABN: 88 691 378 177) ("Octopoddy", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect information when you use the Octopoddy iOS application and related services (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect
1.1 Subscription and Identifier Information
Octopoddy does not require you to provide an email address to use the Service.
When you use the Service, we may collect:
- an anonymous identifier associated with your subscription and use of the app, including an identifier derived from the App Store and/or our subscription management provider
- subscription status and entitlement information
Subscription billing is processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details.
If you contact us for support, we will receive the contact information you choose to provide, such as your email address and the contents of your message.
1.2 Podcast and App Usage Information
To provide core podcast player functionality, we may collect:
- podcasts you follow or subscribe to, including associated RSS feed URLs
- playback activity, such as what you played and when
- listening progress, including playback position
- app interactions, such as playback settings and use of certain features
1.3 Pro Features: Audio Processing Data
If you are a Pro subscriber and use features such as AI-assisted ad-skipping and server-assisted playback or download, we may process:
- podcast audio, which may be downloaded to and processed on our servers
- derived data created from that audio for feature functionality, such as analysis metadata used to identify segments that may contain ads or promotional content
- skipping events, such as when segments were skipped
Important: The Octopoddy app does not permanently modify podcast audio files. Any skipping occurs by adjusting playback position on your device.
1.4 Diagnostics and Log Data
We may collect diagnostic data such as crash reports, error logs, and performance metrics. This data may be collected directly by us or via third-party monitoring and observability tools that help us operate, secure, and improve the Service.
We aim to avoid collecting sensitive content in logs, such as full podcast audio. We may collect limited technical metadata necessary to diagnose issues.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- provide and manage Pro features and subscription entitlements
- sync listening progress, where enabled
- improve reliability, safety, and performance, including debugging and quality monitoring
- communicate service-related information, such as critical updates, security notices, and policy changes
- enforce our Terms of Service and protect our rights and users
3. Audio Processing (Pro Subscribers)
When Pro audio processing features are used:
- podcast audio may be downloaded to our servers for processing and/or delivery to your device for local playback
- automated systems may generate derived data from audio to provide features such as ad-skipping guidance
- audio and derived data may be temporarily stored to provide the feature, improve performance, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and operate the Service
We aim to keep processing proportional to what is required to provide the requested functionality.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information in these circumstances:
4.1 Service Providers
We may share information with service providers who help us operate the Service, such as providers of hosting, storage, subscription management, analytics, logging, customer support, and monitoring or observability services. These providers are permitted to process information only to provide services to us, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
4.2 Legal and Safety
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
- protect the rights, property, and safety of Octopoddy, our users, or others
- investigate fraud, security, or technical issues
4.3 Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard protections.
5. International Data Transfers
Octopoddy servers are currently located in the United States, and some third-party service providers may process data in other jurisdictions.
If you use the Service, you understand that your information may be processed and stored outside your country of residence, including in the United States.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:
- providing the Service
- maintaining subscription entitlements
- troubleshooting and security
- legal compliance and enforcement
Retention periods may vary depending on the data type and how the Service is used. For example, audio and derived data generated for Pro features may be retained temporarily for service operation, performance, and troubleshooting.
You may request deletion of your account-related data as described below.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:
- access personal information we hold about you
- request correction of inaccurate information
- request deletion of information, subject to legal and operational requirements
- object to or restrict certain processing
- request data portability where applicable

Feature Controls
You can disable AI-assisted ad-skipping via in-app controls, where available.
You may also stop using Pro features by cancelling your subscription via Apple.
8. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and, where appropriate, at rest. However, no security measures can guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at hello@octopoddy.com and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, if changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice, for example via an in-app notice or by posting an updated policy.
Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
